WHOLEGRAIN AGRIGAL CRACKERS: ORIGIN AND SUSTAINABILITY

We use only BIO-certified ingredients in our wholegrain crackers: buckwheat, Rosastro Rosso corn from Rovetta, Nostrano dell’Isola corn and Spinato corn from Gandino. This last ingredient is a corn of ancient origin. It was cultivated by a pre-Columbian civilisation many thousands of years before the discovery of America.

One interesting fact about Gandino with regards to corn production is that according to the memoirs of Filippo Lussana, an important man of letters from Bergamo, Gandino was the first town in the Lombardy Region to grow this corn. It is in fact said that a nobleman from the Veneto Region who had already experimented with the cultivation of this cereal on his own land set up the new crop in Gandino.

The advantages of consuming rice crackers have been the object of discussion for some time. They are often recommended as part of a healthy lifestyle or as a substitute for bread, without considering the negative effects that excessive and prolonged consumption may cause. The level of arsenic in rice increases exponentially in pure rice crackers, as the reaching of high temperatures during the pressing process can in fact cause an increase in the level of arsenic.
