TIMILIA GRAIN: THE PRIME INGREDIENT IN THESE CRACKERS

Corn and Timilia durum wheat crackers contain 76% Timilia wheat, a high-quality durum wheat that is rich in nutritional and beneficial qualities. Timilia grains come from the Tridicum durum, a variety of durum wheat that is also known as tremelia and mazzuolo, among other names. Here at Agrigal our aim is to cultivate and process the wheat according to local traditions.

Corn is an extremely well-known cereal that belongs to the family of grasses and can often be found in kitchens all over the world in the form of oil, popcorn or polenta, but not everyone knows its origins or properties. Corn growing began in Central America, probably in Mexico, and was brought to Europe by Christopher Colombo. In Italy it replaced other cereals such as millet and soon gained a dominant role in rural diets. Furthermore, as it is rich in iron and minerals, it is an excellent source of nutrition for children and pregnant women.

Timilia durum wheat crackers with organic oregano offer countless beneficial properties. Timilia durum wheat, which is rich in mineral salts (potassium, iron, zonc, phosphorous, calcium and sodium) as well as precious group B vitamins, is a complete and healthy alternative to bread. Furthermore, the high concentration of protein and fibre aids digestion. Corn, a cereal that contains a considerable quantity of iron, is a precious ally for people suffering from anaemia.

Due to the fact that it is very easy to digest, corn protects the digestive system, in particular the intestine and stomach. Thanks to its nutritional properties, corn is also used by skilled herbalists in preparing supplements to aid against hypotension, diabetes, excessive weight, water retention and colon spasms. Corn is in fact useful in reducing the absorption of sugars during digestion, allowing the blood sugar level to be controlled and reducing “unhealthy” cholesterol, LDL.
