AN ORGANIC FARM: RESPECTING PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Agrigal is an organic farm that has successfully gained its place in the Italian organic farming scene. Our company was one of the first to cultivate cereal in a natural manner, respecting the principles and spirit of organic, sustainable farming, abolishing the use of chemical substances from its entire production cycle. The result is the cultivation of cereals that are 100% natural, which in June 2015 led our organic farm to become the number-one producer in the Lombardy region of crackers made with ancient corn varieties processed in an artisan manner, without any refining of ingredients. The 100% natural cultivation methods, the utmost respect for the environment and the processing of the product with unrefined ingredients are values that render our company uniquely important on a national level, both in terms of projects to revalorise the territory and in research into high product quality standards. The majority of organic farms use degerminated and hulled corn that is broken into equal-sized pieces to produce corn crackers, which strips them of the majority of their nutritional value. Agrigal distinguishes itself from other organic farms on the market for its ethics and its commitment to treating the corn and all the other products it cultivates in the most natural way possible, in order to leave intact all their flavour and their nutritional properties.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

By following the logic of full environmental sustainability, both in the stages of natural cultivation and product processing, we guarantee that all our products are the result of the processing of ingredients that are cultivated on the farm.

WE ARE THE NUMBER-ONE PRODUCER OF WHOLE-GRAIN CORN CRACKERS IN LOMBARDY

The number-one producer in Lombardy of crackers made from ancient corn varieties processed with artisan techniques, our company strongly believes in “doing simple things well”. The well-known local Spinato di Gandino corn variety is treated exclusively with organic fertiliser from the Valley cows, without the use of weed killers and by working the fields directly and manually. This is an old-time spirit, far removed from capitalism and the logic of large-scale production. We seek to process our products in an authentic and traditional manner in order to rediscover flavours that have been long forgotten but which represent thousands of years of tradition.

WE ARE ACTIVE ON THE FRONT LINE

Driven by our desire to present our company to as many people as possible, we participate actively in events and manifestations aimed at promoting our organic agriculture and its values. We work in close contact with other prime examples of Italian production in order to be able to guarantee you a fantastic experience with the world of Italian organic farming. One of the initiatives that we are most fond of and that we are proud to follow and nurture is an educational project involving nursery-school children from Gorno. This project of collaboration was set up in 2016 with the aim of bringing new generations closer to the agricultural sector, in particular with regards to the cultivation of corn on a didactic and practical level. The children are provided with an opportunity for practical experiences, focused on sowing, tamping and harvesting in the field. This is one way in which an organic farm can make a difference in educating future farmers at an early age.

WE CULTIVATE OUR OWN 100% NATURAL CORN

Our organic farm invests in the cultivation of 100% natural cereals, even though this entails increased production costs and results in lower crop yields (approximately 4,500 kilograms per hectare). However, our passion for what we do, and our respect for the environment, and the people who will consume our products, is a strong incentive for us to persevere with this philosophy.

Our organic farm is in Lombardy, in the province of Bergamo, more precisely in Leffe, located in the wonderful Val Gandino.
